Since the mid-1800s, the Larkin family has been hand-crafting hurleys with uncompromising dedication to tradition and quality. Our story begins long before the GAA was founded in 1884—when Philip Larkin's granduncle was already shaping the future of hurling by crafting the hurleys for the Galway team that competed in the first All-Ireland Hurling Final in 1888.
Rooted in Derrysiskal, Killimor, near Ballinasloe, Co. Galway, our workshop has been the beating heart of hurley-making for generations. Patrick Larkin's contribution to the game extended beyond craftsmanship—he helped write the "Killimor Rules" that shaped how hurling was played and understood. This legacy of innovation and excellence has been passed down through Philip Larkin (Senior), Frank Larkin, and Tom Joe (TJ) Larkin to the current generation of Francis and Damien Larkin.
Every hurley we create honors this heritage. We work exclusively with natural curves from native Irish ash trees, employing traditional methods refined over 150 years. Each stick is hand-finished using time-tested techniques that ensure superior shock absorption, optimal weight balance, and the authentic feel that serious players demand. Today, we produce over 10,000 hurleys annually, maintaining the same meticulous standards that have made us one of Ireland's oldest and most respected hurley-making dynasties.
When you choose a Larkin hurley, you're not just buying a sports implement—you're holding six generations of mastery, innovation, and an unbreakable connection to the soul of hurling itself.
